Day trips in the nature of Kystlandet

Experience the beautiful, hilly landscape in the southern part of the Danish Lakelands on this day trip and enjoy a meal at a historic inn.
Start the day at The Uncovered Bridge. Continue to another historic structure, Vestbirk Hydroelectric Power Station, just a few hundred metres from the bridge. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the historic Sandvad Kro before heading to the old paper mill, Klostermølle, on the shores of Mossø, the largest lake in Jutland. If you still have energy to spare, you can walk from Klostermølle to the top of Sukkertoppen (the Sugar Loaf), which offers one of the best views in Denmark.

Experience both dramatic and manicured coastal landscapes on a day trip along Vejle Fjord.
Start the day at Staksrode Forest, where impressive steep cliffs plunge towards the coast. Continue to the charming little coastal spot of Rosenvold, with its beach, marina, castle and campsite, where you can buy an ice cream or a cup of coffee. Then head to Hotel Vejlefjord and take a walk along its beautiful historic spa trails. Follow the trails to the iconic Træskohage Lighthouse, which offers wonderful views of the fjord. You can also enjoy a delicious lunch at the hotel restaurant before heading to the final stop of the day, Daugård Beach.

Take the ferry from Snaptun to the holiday island of Endelave in the Kattegat. Hire a bicycle at Endelave Harbour and set off on a cycling trip to the northern tip of the island through the protected Øvre nature reserve. Follow the Mini-Kaninoen trail along the way. Back in Endelave village, you can visit the island’s medicinal herb garden and enjoy lunch at Café Heden, the garden’s café. Take your time exploring the village’s charming streets, and perhaps round off the day with a cup of coffee on the terrace at Kroen Endelave or a game of crazy golf at Udsigten, where you hired your bicycles.

Explore the natural beauty of the Gudenå Valley and visit the small rural museums found throughout the area.
Start the day at Tinnet Krat, where both the Gudenå and Skjernå rivers have their sources. After seeing the springs, you can visit the nearby Tinnetgaard visitor farm and farm shop.
You can then continue to the open-air Hjortsvang Museum before heading to Uldum Kær, Denmark’s largest wetland. Round off the day with a visit to Uldum Mølle Museum. Uldum Mølle is still a working mill, producing its own flour, rolled oats and other products, which you can buy in the mill shop.

Visit two of the area’s beautiful castle parks before continuing to the lively harbour atmosphere in Juelsminde.
Start the day at Boller Castle. Take a stroll through the flower gardens and look out for the Boller Oak, the oldest tree in Jutland. The castle park is located in Boller Forest. Take a short walk through the forest to Horsens Fjord, where you can walk out onto the 100-metre-long Boller Pier and enjoy wonderful views of the fjord and the town.
Continue to Palsgaard Castle Park. Take a stroll through the park and the new sculpture park. Stop for a break at the park’s visitor centre, where you can help yourself to a cup of coffee.
Then head to Juelsminde Harbour. Stroll around the attractive harbour area, take a walk to Storstranden Beach, treat yourself to an ice cream and enjoy a meal at one of the many places to eat – such as Restaurant Møllers, which serves delicious traditional Danish open sandwiches.

Visit the two islands of Alrø and Hjarnø in Horsens Fjord with the little bicycle ferry that sails between the islands.
Start by driving to Alrø, which is connected to the mainland by a causeway on the north side of the fjord. Enjoy lunch at Café Alrø, famous for its giant vol-au-vents. At the southern tip of Alrø, hop aboard the bicycle ferry to Hjarnø. You will now have a couple of hours to explore Hjarnø before heading back to Alrø. Visit the little church and the Viking burial mounds, take a walk along the lagoon and stop by Det Grafiske Magasin for a cup of coffee.

Explore Brædstrup’s charming town centre and the surrounding natural areas, all within easy reach of the centre.
Head to the centre of Brædstrup in the morning. Take a short stroll and browse the local shops before enjoying lunch at Restaurant Rummelig. Just a few steps from the restaurant is the town park. From here, you can continue into the activity park and then on to Ring Forest. Take a short walk around the area and make sure to visit Jensnej, the giant troll sculpture by Thomas Dambo, hidden in the forest.
Then head to Hotel Pejsegården for a cup of coffee – and perhaps a game of bowling if you are in the mood for some friendly competition.
Round off the day with a trip to the beach at Ring Lake on the outskirts of town.

Spend a day exploring the beautiful, hilly countryside around Sondrup, with visits to some of the area’s many local food producers.
Start the day at Trustrup Udsigtshøje, where you can enjoy lovely views of Horsens Fjord. Continue to Sondrup Plantation and take a walk through the hilly woodland. Stop by the Farm Living Ged & Grønt farm shop before heading to Sondrup Beach.
We suggest rounding off the day with a delicious meal at Vecchio Convento in the centre of Odder. On the way, you can stop at Karensminde Frugtplantage to buy freshly pressed juice or pick your own fruit. Alternatively, visit Fru Møllers Mølleri, with its bakery, farm shop, butcher’s shop, ice cream dairy and much more.

Enjoy a day on the beautiful car-free island of Tunø in the Kattegat.
Hop aboard the Tunø ferry in Hou. When you arrive, you can set off on the eight-kilometre hiking trail around the island, which takes you along the top of cliffs rising up to 25 metres above the sea. If you do not fancy walking the entire route, you can visit Sønderklint, just a short distance from the island’s village. Alternatively, hire a bicycle at the harbour and explore the island’s car-free roads. Make sure to take a stroll through the charming village and see the unusual church with its lighthouse tower. There are plenty of places to stop for a break and enjoy a meal, including Mejeriet Tunø, Røgeriet, Blåkærgård and Tunø Det Gamle Posthus. You can also challenge each other to a game of crazy golf at Stalden Tunø Minigolf before catching the ferry back.
