Bjørnsknude
In Juelsminde, there is a characteristic peninsula with an impressive view of the Kattegat. Starting at the marina, a hiking trail will take you to the tip along the beautiful beaches that surround the town.
With a view of the Kattegat
In the heart of Juelsminde’s coastal landscape, Bjørnsknude juts out into the sea as a narrow point, offering some of the most stunning views of the Kattegat. On a clear day, you can see as far as Funen, Samsø, Endelave, and the Little Belt in the distance. And the best part? You can walk all the way there from the harbor.
An easy and scenic walk along the beach
The 2.5-kilometre hiking trail begins at the marina and winds its way along the wide beach Storstranden. With sand beneath your feet and the sea by your side, you’ll walk toward the tip of Bjørnsknude – an unspoiled piece of nature where it feels as though Denmark simply ends at the sea.
You can continue on the other side by Strandhuse and make a loop back, or return through the town. The full route is 5.5 kilometres and offers sea views all the way.
The surface varies – gravel, sand, stones, and asphalt, but the route is easy to follow and well signposted. The walk is ideal for adults and older children, but it is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams.
Please note that there is no parking directly at Bjørnsknude, and parking near the holiday homes is not allowed. A large car park is available at Storstranden, and parking is also possible at Strandhuse Beach. Toilet facilities are available at both parking areas.
More coastal hikes
From the marina, you can also head in the opposite direction to Sandbjerg Vig Beach. Between the harbour towns of Juelsminde and Snaptun runs a popular coastal hiking route. This 22-kilometer trail showcases the east coast’s beauty through varied landscapes.
For a hike similar to the Bjørnsknude Trail, consider Borre Knob – another striking headland, this time in Horsens Fjord. The hike to its tip is four kilometers long, and here too, you can walk along the beach on both sides.
