BGI Snowsport Arena
Near the village of Bjerre, close to Horsens, you will find one of Scandinavia’s largest artificial ski and snowboard centres, where you can try your hand at winter sports all year round. Equipment can be hired on site, and it is also possible to book an instructor.
Ski centre in East Jutland
Do you want to be ready for your ski holiday? Or are you simply looking for a fun activity during your stay in Destination Kystlandet? At the sports boarding school BGI akademiet, you will find a large, newly built outdoor ski area that is open to everyone by booking. The centre features two artificial alpine slopes, a beginner slope, and a jib and freestyle area – in total 300 metres of piste on a so-called dry slope surface, allowing you to ski all year round without snow.
One of the slopes is a beginner slope, where you can safely gain your first experience with skiing. The two other alpine slopes have varying gradients and include a built-in mogul run, offering challenges for more experienced skiers. The slopes are equipped with drag lifts, so you can quickly return to the top.
There is also a dedicated jib and freestyle area with plenty of space for tricks and fun.
In addition, indoor ski training is available. Inside, you will find two rotating ski treadmills that can be adjusted in both gradient and speed. These are an excellent option if you want to improve your technique before your ski holiday. When booking a session on the ski treadmills, an instructor is always included.
Events and training with an instructor
Throughout the year, BGI Snowsport Arena offers lessons and group training for both beginners and advanced skiers. For young people aged 10–15, ski camps with overnight stays are also organised, where participants receive varied training over several days.
You can find an overview of upcoming events on this page.
It is also possible to book a personal trainer for your visit. Both beginners and experienced skiers can book an instructor, but if it is your first time skiing, you must have an instructor to learn the basic techniques for safety reasons.
Equipment hire
Do not have your own equipment? No problem.
At BGI Snowsport Arena, you can hire all the equipment you need – including skis, boots and helmets. The weather, climate and surface are naturally not the same as in the Alps or the mountains, so traditional ski clothing is not necessary. You can come as you are, but it is recommended to have your arms and legs covered.
Before and after your ski session, you can make use of the lounge, where you can relax in comfortable seating with a cup of coffee from the machine. Food is not available for purchase, but you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch.
Prices and opening hours
BGI Snowsport Arena is open at weekends and on Wednesdays. You can find the exact and up-to-date opening hours on this page. Here, you can also view prices for admission, equipment hire and personal training.
There is a large car park at the ski centre, as well as the option to charge your electric car at one of the 12 Clever charging points.
About BGI akademiet
The sports boarding school BGI akademiet is one of the largest of its kind in Denmark, with around 500 students. The school offers a wide range of sports programmes and combinations. One of these is a ski and snowboard programme, which is why you can use the facilities when they are not being used by the school’s own students.
At BGI akademiet, you can look forward to sport, friendships, a strong sense of community and high academic standards. The only thing there is no room for is the Law of Jante – here, everyone is encouraged to spread their wings.
