Café Heden

Located in the heart of Endelave, this cozy eatery invites you to sit down in the garden and enjoy delicious dishes and cold drinks for both lunch and dinner.

Charming café in peaceful surroundings

Not far from Endelave’s ferry port, on the edge of the island’s village, you’ll find Endelave Lægeurtehave (Medicinal Herb Garden). For many years, this visitor garden has hosted a small eatery, but this year the café opens under a new name and with new hosts.

During the season, you’re welcome to stop by for a delicious lunch—or perhaps a cold drink enjoyed at one of the garden tables, inside the café, or on a blanket in the grass. You’re also very welcome to enjoy a piece of cake and a good cup of coffee in the afternoon.

Lunch and communal dinner

Café Heden doesn’t have a fixed menu, but the daily specials will be listed on the blackboard. There’s always a great selection of lunch dishes to suit all tastes.

In the evening, the café offers a communal dining experience. If you’ve reserved a table in advance, you can enjoy a three-course meal in the company of others. If the weather allows, dinner will be served outdoors in the garden—otherwise, it will be moved indoors.

You can reserve a spot any day of the week between 10 AM and 4 PM using the contact details above.

Café owners Peter-Emil and Victor bring extensive experience from both canteens and Michelin-starred restaurants. Their approach to food is unpretentious—everything is made from scratch, and they draw inspiration from European country kitchens. The herb garden itself acts as a pantry, providing the café with herbs and other ingredients, and they also work with local farmers and food producers to offer the freshest and best-quality ingredients.

Opening hours

The medicinal herb garden, Endelave Lægeurtehave, is open from May through the autumn holiday period. The café is also open during this time, though hours vary from month to month.

You can check the exact current opening hours on Café Heden’s website.
