KØST is the name of this new gastronomic hotspot for locals and visitors at the harbour in the ferry town of Hou. The owners call it a gastropub – a place where simple dishes are served with a passion for quality and delicious beverages.
The name KØST is a contraction of the Danish words for coast (kyst) and east (øst), and the location by the Kattegat Sea plays a significant role in the concept. Fish and seafood are central to the menu, which includes dishes such as fish & chips, fish cakes, pan-fried flatfish, herring sandwiches, and KØST's own version of the Danish seafood platter. The proud Danish traditions of harbour cafés are upheld, and you can enjoy that experience whether you sit outdoors by the harbor or inside the cosy restaurant/pub.
The kitchen uses fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients, and the Danish-inspired focus is spiced up with a diverse twist from world cuisines.
If someone in your party isn't into fish, no problem! The menu also includes meat dishes and vegetarian options.

KØST is open for both lunch and dinner. In the evening, the menu expands, and we particularly recommend 'KØSTen Rundt', which consists of 8 shareable small dishes.

In September, KØST's new deli opens, which is an extension of the gastropub. In the shop, you can find a wide selection of quality products such as fresh fish from the auction, homemade ready-to-eat fish dishes, delicious handpicked delicacies, quality wines that pair perfectly with fish, and excellent takeaway meals.
