Cities in Kystlandet

Horsens, Odder and Juelsminde

In Kystlandet, you will not find any big cities. Instead, smaller, charming towns are strung together like pearls, each with its own unique character. Here, the locals carry the history of their town with pride – whether it is an old industrial town, a fishing and harbour town, or a town shaped by its agricultural heritage. This means you will experience authentic towns, and thanks to a growing population, they are also vibrant and evolving – without empty shopfronts.

The local culture varies from town to town, but they all share a common trait: the people are friendly, proud and slightly reserved. However, if you approach them, they will be more than happy to help, because they are pleased and proud that you have chosen to visit their town.

Horsens

Horsens is one of Denmark’s oldest towns – and today one of the fastest growing. With its 65,000 inhabitants, Horsens is the largest town in Destination Kystlandet. Denmark’s seventh-largest city is no metropolis, and it does not feel like one either when you stroll through the historic streets, free from the hustle and bustle of big city life. However, the town is large enough to offer an excellent selection – whether you are looking for shopping, dining or cultural experiences. At the same time, it is compact enough that you can easily explore the town centre on foot.

Odder

The main town of the Odder Coast has 14,000 inhabitants. Despite its modest size and close proximity to the city of Aarhus, Odder is a very self-sufficient town that offers everything you need. There is a strong retail scene and a long pedestrian street, complemented by a couple of cosy squares.

Juelsminde

Juelsminde is Kystlandet’s number one holiday town. Surrounded by water on three sides, the town enjoys a truly special light and a holiday atmosphere that quickly gets under your skin. Sea views are almost a given in Juelsminde. The town has just 4,000 inhabitants, but during the summer season this number multiplies, creating a vibrant setting with a great selection of waterfront restaurants, family-friendly activities and ice cream parlours.
