Åstedbro Teltplads
By the banks of the Gudenå River between Tørring and Brædstrup you will find this campsite for canoeists, where you can spend the night in your own tent. The campsite has limited facilities but is located right next to a grill bar.
Overnight stay on your canoe holiday
Åstedbro Teltplads (Campsite) is situated about 14 kilometres north-east of Tørring, where many people choose to begin their canoe trip on the Gudenå River. The distance from Tørring to Åstedbro fits perfectly with a day’s paddling, making the campsite an ideal overnight stop along the way.
Facilities
The campsite is clearly signposted from the river and will appear on your left-hand side after you have paddled under the bridge at Åstedbro. There is a landing and launch site here, so you can easily pull your canoe ashore. The campsite consists of two larger grassy areas where tents can be pitched. One lies directly by the river, while the other is set a little further inland, surrounded by trees that provide shelter from the wind. There is a toilet building on site with access to water. A fire pit is also available, and you are welcome to collect firewood.
Next to the campsite you will find Åstedbro Grillen, where you can buy meals and drinks for lunch and dinner. Check the grill bar’s Facebook page for opening hours.
There is no actual village at Åstedbro, and the campsite is relatively isolated – about 3 kilometres from shops in Rask Mølle. Be sure to bring your own provisions.
Price and practical information
It costs 50 DKK per person to spend the night at Åstedbro Teltplads. Payment is collected by the camp host and can be made in cash or via MobilePay. Tents must be placed three metres apart. Dogs are welcome, but they must always be kept on a lead. Please respect other guests and keep noise to a minimum. There is a car park at Åstedbro Teltplads, but as the site is intended for canoeists, you are kindly asked not to drive here to stay overnight. The car park is provided for picking up canoes and guests.
During the summer season, the Gudenå Bus (Modstrømsbussen) stops at Åstedbro Teltplads. The bus makes it possible to walk, cycle or paddle along the Gudenå River and take the bus back to your starting point.
