Campsite at the Horsens-Silkeborg Nature Trail
To the west of the town of Brædstrup lies a combined shelter and tent site. The site serves well as an accommodation for hikers and cyclists on the Horsens-Silkeborg nature trail, approximately midway between the two towns.
Primitive accommodation near Brædstrup
The Horsens-Silkeborg Nature Trail (or Bryrupbanestien) is a 61-kilometer-long hiking route, cycling path, and bridleway on the old railway connecting the two market towns. Along the almost car-free route, there are several nature campsites where trail users can take a break or spend the night. One of these is this shelter site, located quite close to the town of Brædstrup. Here, it is completely free to stay overnight and use the site's facilities.
Good facilities
The site features two shelters, each accommodating around 8 people. Tent camping is also permitted. For riders, there is a horse paddock available on-site. The area is well sheltered by earth mounds to the east and west—offering protection on a stretch of the route that otherwise passes through fairly open terrain.
Amenities include a composting toilet, water, a fire pit, firewood, picnic tables with benches, and waste bins.
Booking of shelters
Two out of the three shelters on the site can be booked. For the last shelter, it operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be aware that space must be made for other guests in the shelter if it is not filled up. It is not allowed to keep the shelter exclusively for oneself, even if you have made a booking.

With its location at the midway point between Horsens and Silkeborg, the site is a popular overnight spot, especially for hikers. The site is only 800 meters from the center of Brædstrup, where you can stock up on supplies in various supermarkets or enjoy a meal in one of the eateries.
