Bygholm Park

Just a short distance from Horsens town centre lies a beautiful and well-maintained park offering a wide range of activities for everyone. This historic manor park is one of the town’s favourite spots for families with young children and nature-loving city dwellers.

The town's green oasis

Tucked away just behind Horsens Station, only a stone’s throw from the town’s lively centre, you will find a peaceful green oasis. Bygholm Park is the perfect place to unplug, relax and enjoy nature. Majestic old trees, small idyllic lakes and open grassy areas set the scene for cosy moments under the open sky. There are plenty of lovely spots where you can sit down with a packed lunch or simply enjoy the beautiful view.

A paradise for children

If you grew up in Horsens, chances are you have childhood memories from Bygholm Park. A large playground serves as a major draw for the little ones, who can run wild for hours while the grown-ups sit at the nearby picnic tables, which also include barbecue facilities. The park now also features a new nature playground with a 200-metre-long Tarzan trail, including balance beams, jungle stumps, a sensory swing, climbing nets, bridges and seesaws.

The many ducks and geese are also a big hit with the younger visitors.

The historic manor house

At the heart of the park stands the elegant manor house Bygholm, whose history dates back to the 14th century. Today, the building serves as Hotel Comwell Bygholm Park.

Everyone is welcome here, so pop in for a cup of coffee in the cosy lobby with views of the park or enjoy a refreshing drink at the bar.

Near the manor you can find the remains of Erik Menved's Castle. The old medieval castle is long gone, but remains of the rampart can still be seen. You can climb the small hill and read about the history of the place.

Play a game of disc golf with your friends

Disc golf baskets that are free to use are dotted around the park. At Comwell Bygholm Park, you can borrow equipment and try out this fun and slightly unusual activity.

Let your dog run free in the greenery

Bygholm Park is a wonderful place to walk your dog. In the enclosed dog forest area, you can even let your dog off the lead to run and play with other dogs.

Visit Bygholm Lake too

Connected to the park, you will find Åbjerg Forest and Bygholm Lake, which offers one of the area’s most popular walking routes. Take a stroll through the woods or embark on the scenic 7-kilometre route around the lake during your visit to Bygholm Park. The combination of the manicured park and the wild nature by the lake creates a truly outstanding nature experience.
