Stouby Beach

Nestled within the dramatic landscape on the northern side of Vejle Fjord, where steep cliffs meet Denmark’s longest coastal forest, lies a peaceful and scenic bathing spot. At the edge of the park surrounding the historic wellness retreat Hotel Vejlefjord, you will find a small beach and an elegant bathing jetty – open to all.

Take a dip by the spa hotel

The northern shore of Vejle Fjord is known for its striking coastal forest and steep slopes. In this otherwise untouched natural setting, the manicured park of Hotel Vejlefjord creates a soft contrast, with winding therapy paths, blooming rhododendrons, and lush green lawns. Follow the path down to the water, and a small, atmospheric beach reveals itself – a hidden gem of tranquillity and stunning views.

Here by the shore lies a modest beach with a fine, long jetty stretching into the fjord. This is not your typical broad beach with ice cream stalls, lifeguards and all the trimmings. No, Stouby Beach is a serene and peaceful spot for a refreshing swim, framed by a visually captivating tapestry of nature. And the bathing water quality is excellent.

The beach is neither wide nor long, and the surroundings feature large rocks and trees that grow close to the water’s edge. The seabed is partly stony and seaweed-covered, but the water is clean and inviting. The long bathing jetty is a favourite among hotel guests in their robes – but it is freely accessible to everyone.

Behind the beach is a grassy area where you can relax, although there are no classic beach facilities. However, toilets are available up at the hotel – just a short, picturesque walk through the park.

More than just a beach trip

A visit to Stouby Beach can easily be combined with other experiences. Hotel Vejlefjord has a restaurant offering everything from lunch to coffee and cake, served in elegant yet relaxed surroundings.

If you book in advance, you can also access the hotel’s renowned spa, featuring thermal baths, wellness treatments, and complete relaxation – a luxurious experience that perfectly complements a trip to the fjord.

Explore the historic therapy paths

The park surrounding the hotel is home to the historic therapy paths – laid out during the sanatorium era as part of patient treatment. Today, they serve as atmospheric walking trails that wind through forest and coastal landscapes. Along the way, you will encounter art, viewpoints, and historic remnants – and one of the trails leads all the way to the picturesque Træskohage Lighthouse.
