Transport to and from Kystlandet
Kystlandet is conveniently located near airports, with the highway E45 running right through the area. The infrastructure is excellent, and there are numerous transport options to the destination.
Airports
Denmark has several international airports, with the closest being Billund Airport, located just outside the Kystlandet area. From Billund, there are direct flights from other Danish airports as well as more than 100 European destinations. Additionally, there are airports in Copenhagen and Aalborg.
Bus and trains from the airport
From Billund Airport, it is possible to take a bus to Kystlandet. The airport bus 912X stops at Lund on the outskirts of Horsens, where you can catch a city bus to the town center. Alternatively, you can take Regional Bus 43 from Billund to the train station in Vejle. From Vejle, you can continue by train to Horsens or take a bus to Juelsminde.
Copenhagen Airport and Aalborg Airport both have their own train stations with direct departures to Horsens.
Trains
There are three train stations in Kystlandet. Horsens Station is located on the main line through Denmark from Copenhagen to Aalborg and offers direct departures to major Danish cities as well as to Germany. Hedensted Station has regional train services on the Fredericia-Aarhus route. Additionally, from Odder Station, you can take the light rail to Aarhus.
Train tickets can be purchased through DSB. Ticket machines are available at the stations, where payment can be made by card, but you can also buy tickets via the DSB ticket app.
The light rail (Letbanen)
From Odder, you can take the light rail to Aarhus from the train station. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes, and tickets can be purchased at ticket machines at the station, via the national app Rejsebillet. Please note that you must have a valid ticket before boarding the train. In both cities, the station is located right next to the city’s shopping center.
Regional buses
The Coastal Land is covered by a network of regional bus routes, making it possible to travel between all towns. Direct bus connections are available to and from cities such as Aarhus, Vejle, Silkeborg, and Herning. Tickets can be purchased with cash on the buses or with the national ticket app Rejsebillet.
Long distance buses
FlixBus offers a comfortable and affordable way to travel to Horsens. With FlixBus, you can reach Horsens from Danish cities such as Aalborg and Copenhagen, as well as from Germany. The bus stop is located at Lund on the outskirts of Horsens. From there, you can take a city bus to the town center.
To Kystlandet by car
The East Jutland Motorway E45, running from Flensburg to Frederikshavn, is the main traffic artery in Kystlandet and has exits at Horsens and Hedensted. From there, it's a very short drive to the coast and the other towns in Kystlandet. While there can be traffic congestion during rush hours on weekdays, most of the time it is easy to get around. The infrastructure is generally excellent.
